OUR CAUSE

There is much to like about the past, including the sense of community.

Do you remember when the family used to have dinner around the dining room table, kids walked to school together, we didn’t identify ourselves by who we voted for or prayed to, and your neighbours cared about you? That sense of community meant that we all trusted each other a little more than we do today.

Of course, that was then and this is now. We have to live in the present, in a rapidly changing world.

Working together however, we can re-create that sense of community right here on YsPeople. Building on the foundation established by our team, here you can create a community where we all belong and feel safe. You can create a community where you feel relaxed and comfortable.

Trust is established when a community shares values. The values we share on YsPeople include honesty, compassion, commitment, equity and respect. YsPeople exists for its members, will develop with the direction of its members and will always represent and advocate on behalf of its members.

Our shared values also mean that we will not tolerate offensive comments or language; harassment, bullying or threatening behaviour; sexism, racism or discrimination of any kind. We also value the personal security and privacy hard-earned by each and every member.

The future is also important. Our members want the community to contribute to causes trying to build a better tomorrow. They want to develop the skills they need to really enjoy tomorrow. Many of our members want to help shape the future.

YsPeople will give voice to the voiceless, power to the powerless and inspiration to the despondent.

The promise of YsPeople is yet to be fully realised, but we’ve made a start. Now it is up to you to make this a community that recognises us, connects us, represents us, listens to us, and serves us.

That is our aim. Please join us
